Sam and Paul at Actus are celebrating this week. Not only has their workforce (their lovely wives) returned after six months at home with their children, but they have also taken on two new apprentices, launched a new arm of their business and expanded their office space by leasing the next door unit! It's been a busy few months!
In June, they decided to extend their workforce by looking into an apprenticeship and training up a school leaver to work alongside them. After receiving a huge number of quality applicants, the guys found themselves in a difficult position of having two very high calibre candidates with little to choose between them. In the end, they decided that both had a great deal to offer and offered them both a position. Rieves Boocock joins from ending his time with Doncaster Rovers Academy and Tom Croggon has just completed A Levels at Barnsley College.
Sam said of the process "we had many quality applicants through the process but are delighted to welcome Rieves and Tom to the team. We are sure they will fit in well with the Actus team ethic and will be assets to the company."
Both Rieves and Tom are set to embark on an apprenticeship with FWD Training providers, to work towards a Level 4 qualification in Insurance.
In addition to the team members growing, Sam and Paul decided the time was right to extend their business and premises too, and the temptation of the empty space next door was too much to overlook. In an agreement that sees Actus Insurance and the newly established Actus Health and Safety Ltd staying at their Fox Valley premises for four years, Paul said "we have been based at Fox Valley for just over a year now and it has been the ideal spot for us - being so close to the M1 allows us to serve our client base which spreads across our region and it's also a really nice place to welcome our clients who travel to us!"
Works have yet to be taken on the office expansion, but Sam and Paul are confident that the space will be ready within the next few weeks. Watch this space!

As the date that we leave the EU gets ever closer we are constantly being encouraged to be more outward looking as a country, which as an island nation we have always been.
There is now more support than ever for companies who would like to start their export journey, whether that is with market research, finance, business planning or understanding how to get paid.
This is a question we’re being asked more frequently than ever so we thought it could be a good idea to explore this area a little further.
